serious answers PLEASE. I am devastated.

Firstly, I have 2 goldfish. they were perfectly fine until I moved them 1 floor up. when we moved them 1 of them started to float tummy up, it was still breathing and well alive, but did not eat much. the other is just sort of sitting on the rocks and also still well alive and alot more active than the other... I went to fish specialist and he suggested I put empson salt, aquarium salt and myth. blue. the one floating tummy seemed to get a bit more active but after a few days it got weaker. to the point where if he gets near the filter where the water get sucked in, it would stay there then swims off. and the worst WORST part, we have a heater and it ( BTW he is still tummy up but but much lower and is still alive ) got stuck between the aquarium and the heater, he got burned, I even see his bones. I am so devasted. what should I do?

How do I know if it is dying or will it get better?

  1. Sorry kid. I think he's dead.

  2. I'm not sure if this is the same case as you, but I had a fantail goldfish that suddenly one day, I just noticed was floating around in his tank with his belly up (similar to what you are describing). I loved this fish, and so I asked the people at several pet stores what to do. Sadly, nothing I put in his water helped. However, he ended up living for another year just going about his business floating upside down. :)

It wasn't until after he was gone, that I came across what might have been the cure for his problem. I believe that my fish has what is called: "swim bladder".  Sometimes it can't be cured, but there are also many times in which it can! I have heard several methods that may work as a cure:

    1. Float shelled split peas on the water. Your fish eating them, will work to help cure him. (have no idea why lol)

    2. Many stores sell swim bladder tablets which can be given to your fish.

    3. Look up swim bladder on this site and just in general on the web! You may be able to find some more cures!

However... About the whole burned thing. That sounds horribly painful and I'm not sure what to tell you on that. :( I know that swim baldder can be fixed, but severe burns? It may be more humane to let the fish go, as the person above me recomended... ( As much as I hate to say that :'(  )

I really wish you the best of luck! It's always great to hear about someone who cares about all creatures, even the fish! :)

  3. It's too llate if you can see the bones etc. if you had intervened earlier and used a hospital aquarion with external appliances - maybe. but now  it's HAS to be euthanasia ASAP for the sake of the fish. use a spoonful of clove oil in a cereal bowl. half fill with water and but fish in. painless and quick. sorry

  4. Take your fish to the vet. Get little Tupperware containers, put in water and your fish to bring them to the vet.

I love fish! I have a Calico Goldfish, named Freckles. I had a regular fantail named Asia who died a while ago. Freckles seems lonely and now he just eats a lot. He is kinda on a diet, I know it sounds weird, put you should take care of fish. Some people treat their fish like those little animal toys that grow in water and you watch.

  5. tak it to da vet
