I'm in an A.L only league so the trades that were recently made could really give me a boost, not like i need it, i'm in first place. i've already picked up jason bay but mark teixeira has already been taken, i'm looking for opinions on how smart dropping alex rios and adding ken griffey jr. would be?

  1. Don't do it.

Griffey will give you very similar numbers.

I know your pain as a fellow Rios owner.  It's been nothing but sorrow, but you can't give up on him, especially for Griffey.  While he's a great player and all, he isn't exactly a fantasy savior.

And as you say, you've been in 1st place even while dragging Rios along.  So just hold out a bit longer and when he turns it on(seems to have as of late), start him with confidence.  Let someone else deal with Griffey and his injuries.

  2. Not smart at all, Rios is coming around slowly but surely. Griffey is done and will not give you what Rios will the rest of the way

  3. That would be stupid. Rios is having a good year and is a very versatile player.

  4. Rios will help your team much more. The novelty of Ken Griffey Jr. in your league will wear off and once he burns up by mid-late August, no one will want him. Rios has just as much power if not more, will get more RBIs, will have better average, and will tack a good few stolen bases. Keep Rios.

  5. That wouldn't be smart. Rios should find his power stroke back, he's a better all around hitter and he steals bases. Its really not even close.
