Fantasy Baseball Trade Question: Is this a fair deal?

The deal as it stands is, coming from my team, Vernon Wells(of) and John Danks(sp) for, coming from another owner's team, Adam Dunn(of) and Cliff Lee(sp). I am tempted because of the inclusion of Cliff Lee but worry that he may return to his prior form where he could never win a game, unlike this season's performance(so far). Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

  1. In the long term, I expect: Dunn > Vernon Wells.  I also expect from this point forward that John Danks will be equal to or greater than Cliff Lee.  I actually think Lee has shown better stuff at times this year, but I expect the White Sox will offer more run support than Cleveland has.

For fantasy purposes, I expect Danks will have more W's from this point forward, and  fewer WHIP,  but that Cliff Lee will have more SO's.  I expect BB's and ERA to be roughly the same.

I think you will come out slightly ahead if you make this trade.

  2. I would go through with the trade. Adam Dunn has a lot of power, and can add some good stats to your lineup.

So far, Cliff Lee looks like he may have a genuine breakout season. Although his  ERA has shot up from .78 to 2.45, he has a clean track this season, and as soon as he starts to slow down, trade him for another pitcher.

Josh Danks has a little high WHIP at 1.22, so Cliff Lee at the moment should be able to boost your ERA and WHIP as well as to earn you a win or two.

  3. It's a fair deal. No clear winner. It's up to you.

OFers are a dime a dozen, their are probably 20 OFers available in your league that would be decent fill-ins, and Dunn has great power anyways.

I would do it, just to make the trade and mix things up.

  4. Depends on what you need.  As for Wells and Dunn, Wells will hit for a much higher average, and toss in some decent power numbers.  Dunn will have a crappy average but hit over 40 HR and drive in a ton more.  I think you are winning if you get Lee and give up Danks.  People don't realize that Cliff Lee won 14 games in '06, I think that last year was just a fluke.  Plus last year Danks was awful, with a losing record and an ERA of 5.50, I would take Lee over Danks.  Again, depending on what you need, you would be winning this deal.

  5. Toss up.

  6. I would stick with what you have Lee is already starting too slip in his last few outings and that is likely to continue.
