Fantasy Football 2008 Strategy with the #1 Pick?

Here is my draft strategy after doing enough mock drafts and anticipating who my co workers will pick. I am thinking L.T. for my first pick even though he could be a bust. As far a quarterback someone like Matt Schaub will do. What are your thoughts? What would you do with drafting in this particular spot?

Main Line Up

1=1 RB

2=24 WR

3=25 RB

4=48 QB

5=49 TE

6=72 WR

7=73 WR

8=96 K

9=97 DST

It is a 12 team league...

I did a mock draft and ended up with Schaub, LT, Michael Turner, Marvin Harrison, Patrick Crayton, Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Witten, Pats D, Pats Kicker. That should give you atleast 100 points per week...Right?

  1. didnt you just ask this question 20 minutes ago????

    dang.

  2. You have to go with LT for the #1 pick. AP is the only other guy I would consider, but LT is more proven and he's hungry and healthy this year.

  3. I got the #1 too and have done a ton of mock. First of all you should not be taking Matt schaub at #4.  I've been taking schaub like in the 8th round.  I usually go RB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE/wr/qb(depends on who drops if shockey or better drops i grab the te, if mcnabb or better I grab qb, otherwise wr or rb), rb, qb, qb, WR/RB, DEF, TE, and then fill out the rest of the lineup.  Earliest you should take a kicker is the next to last round.  You know how many good rbs and wrs are still avialable in the 8th and 9th round.  Only time I deviate from the above is if someone that should not be there drops to me, Like if Romo drops to me in the 2nd or 3rd pick, got to grab him.  of if a top te drops in the 4thor 5th grab him.  Otherwise trust me you are much better off building your bench with rb and wr.

  4. LT and the Chargers have a lot to prove and should have another playoff year.  The only way LT becomes a "bust" is if he gets hurt.
