Question:

Fantasy Football Drop or Keep?

I have 4 players from different fantasy teams that I woiuld like the Answers community's opinions on.

1. Javon Walker (WR/OAK) - With the loss of Jerry Porter I feel that Walker will be Russels go-to guy, but he has a lingering knee problem

2. D.J. Hackett (WR/CAR) - I thinking about keeping him if he gets the starting job, but does he have a shot at getting it with Mushin Muhammad in the race for that spot too.

3. Jeremy Shockey (TE/NYG) - If you know anything about football, you know the problems Shockey is dealing with right now. Will he suck it up, be a hinderance to the team, or will the Giants finally wise up and trade him.

4. Edgerin James (RB/ARZ) - The one Arizona game I saw last year with a healthy James, he didn't do too much and Marcel Shipp was used primarily at the goaline.

Just your thoughts and opinions on which ones I should drop or keep.

  1. Walker and James.  Walker has decent potential.  James would only be a 4th rb with a good possibility of eventually getting cut.

  2. I think the choice here is between Walker and Hackett.  I am leary of Walker.  Coming off injury 2 years ago, off field incidents and playing for the Raiders.  Russell will have to throw the ball all year tho and has a strong arm.  Rookie QBs always struggle tho and usually end up with well less than 20 TDs for the year.  Hackett is fast, young and talented and plays on a better team.  He should get the starting job but will be the #2 WR.  James is on his last legs (he will be 30 this year).  Shockey's a cry baby etc.

Walker or Hackett - watch the pre-season to determine.

  3. I would drop hackett but keep the rest. The Panthers are a run first offense and any passes Delhomme does throw usually goes to Steve Smith. The rest could have solid seasons. I like Edgerrin this season because he is one of the few running backs in the league that isn't splitting time with a backup so he could put up big numbers if they giv ehim the ball more.
