Fantasy Football Questions... ?

I drafted a fantasy football team today in a live draft ten team yahoo competitive setting public league. My roster turned out like this.

QB- D. McNabb, D. Anderson

RB- A. Peterson, L. Johnson, T. Jones, S. Young, R. Mendenhall, D. Williams

WR- B. Edwards, C. Johnson, P. Burress, L. Coles, S. Moss

TE- T. Scheffler

DEF- Seattle

I obviously had a really good draft, but I was wondering what people think of this team and if there are any holes on my team and if there is anyone I should trade to try to improve the team overall.

I never draft a kicker I always wait until right before the season and pick one off of waiver cause they are so unpredictable. I'm on board the Scheffler train but I want to make a move for Winslow or Gates, anyone think this is a good move? I think Thomas Jones with Brett Favre ( a passing game) this year has some serious potential to be a top 10. Any thoughts? However I was thinking I might try to deal Johnson and an unamed player to get a different rb with more upside- such as marshawn lynch. any thoughts? I need to trade two at least two of players to make room for a kicker and c. taylor who is on the waivers. which two?

Oh I forgot its a basic league setup

I start

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 DEF

I'm also having a problem on deciding what WR I should trade. Edwards is my boy I drafted him last year in the eighth and we have been best buds ever since. I think Coles, Johnson and Burress are all pretty even. I think Johnson will yield the most trade value and probably have the fewest fantasy points so im leaning towards trading him. I'm heistant about if this is right, any comments would be helpful.

  1. solid team my friend.

only question is, is derek andreson going to have another year like he had last year?? and can donovan stay healthy throughout the course of one season.you have a lot of trade bait at RB.

  2. ok well first off great team.

-I think your making a good decision trading Johnson. His to unpredictable with injurys

-If you make that trade then you have room for a Kicker and i would drop selvin young if i were you to make room for chester taylor. Your others have a brighter season.

-I would go with johnson. and i know what you mean about edwards being "your boy". In fantasy basketball last yr i took Kyle Korver late and he saved my from missing the playoffs and now his "my boy"

  3. Chad Johnson would definitely yield the most trade value, but Coles is probably your worst best receiver if that makes sense.  He's your worst receiver that will have pretty good trade value.  Maybe try trading Chad Johnson for Antonio Gates.  Then drop Mendenhall and Williams.  You'll be getting one of your RBs back in Taylor.

  4. Okay. I agree with you on Thomas Jones.  I think he will have a great year but I am not high on LJ this year.  If you want Marshawn, then I suggest packaging a trade of LJ and Coles for Marshawn and another mid-high caliber wr.  Think of someone with upside such as calvin johnson, antonio gonzales, or maybe even santonio holmes if you can some how get him.  Since your wr group is pretty deep you can take a chance on a young player with upside.

You also might want to try and get a backup TE for Scheffler.  I am like him this year but for example he is my backup and I have Heath Miller as my starter.

If you target a trade for a high-caliber TE then I would avoid Gates.  He will be dealing with injuries and the price you will pay for his brand name is not worth it.  Many other TE such as Dallas Clark, Chris Cooley, Winslow who will be close to as good for a lot "cheaper".  But your team is pretty solid so don't shift too much around. Good Luck
