I know people are saying the NY Jets were upgrading their O Line, so is Thomas Jones worth a first round pick in fantasy football if say you picking near the end of the first round in a 10-12 person league?

  1. Here's the thing - Thomas Jones should benefit from the upgrading of the Jets line (Did somebody say Alan Faneca - cause he's awesome!).  I think he's going to possibly have a top-15 (or 20) fantasy RB season - which means he should be drafted somewhere in the first three rounds generally.  However, to draft him at the that early, or at the end of the first round, is a little silly, because you can more than likely get him later since many people are undervaluing him. If you look at Average Draft Position (ADP) it looks like Thomas Jones can go as late as the fifth round in many drafts - odds are you can wait to draft him and lock him up late in the third or fourth and get potentially great value.

At the end of the first round you want to look at backs like Clinton Portis, Marshawn Lynch, and Willis McGahee (or you could also go RB-WR or RB-QB - especially if TO/Wayne are available).  You can grab Thomas Jones later in your draft and use your earlier picks on more proven commodities.  Don't reach too highly for him, but I think he's definitely got great sleeper status this year and could be a steal in the fourth/fifth round.  Look at the website listed below for more information on ADP.

  2. I like Jones, I really do, But he is a reach in the first round. I think he will be a late 2nd round pick, if he is available in the 3rd then you got a steal

  3. dont pick him if they get farve they wont run the ball as much
