  1. its the same as baseball putting ppl through waivers, if a team drops someone n say u want 2 pick that player up u get first priority cuz u r at #1 n no one else can pick them up. but u have 2 pay attention 2 who ppl drop u only have a certain amount of time 2 pick them up

  2. Hi Kevin,

Just think of the 'Waiver Wire' as a giant pool of available players.  If a player isn't on any team's roster, then they're considered to be 'on the waiver wire'.

Most sites process waiver-wire requests at some single point in time (my league processes the requests on Wednesday morning at 6:00 AM).  When the time to proces the waiver-wire requests arrives, the software will go through the waive-wire requests (from highest priority to lowest priority) and award any requests that are queued.

So, if you have the highest waiver priority, then you can request any player and you're guaranteed to get them (because you are processed first).  After your request is processed, the guy with the 2nd highest priority will get processed and any requests he has will be fulfilled (as long as he doesn't select the same player as you, in which case it will be denied).  The software will work its way through all teams according to priority, then repeat the process until all requests are considered.

However, if you are successfully awarded a player during the waiver processing, you go to the end of the line (you get the lowest priority).  So, it is sometimes strategic to refrain from making a request so that you can retain this top spot.  In this way you know you'll have first dibbs on any hot player that may come available (for instance, if a stud RB goes down and no one has his backup).  The top spot in the waiver wire is a good place to be.

    I hope this helps.
