I've heard about Chris Johnson, James Hardy, and Bryant Johnson. Also, earlier picks like J. Stewart and Mendenhall are popular choices as possible "sleepers." Who else? Who are you really targeting that may be a bit under the radar and available late?

  1. The first bunch of guys that you listed will be available at the end of the draft.  Stewart and Mendenhall...not so much.  When targeting rookies, keep in mind that very very few WRs deliver the fantasy goods in year one.  It happens (e.g. Colston, Boldin), but it's very rare.  Two possibly strong contenders to do so are DeShaun Jackson and Eddie Royal.  Both have done extremely well in the preseason and will have the opportunity to shine.  Jackson could very well end up being the best WR on the Eagles----but that's not saying too much.

Rookie RBs on the other hand can and do produce immediately.  I'd put them in this order:

McFadden (won't be available in 8th round)

Stewart- will get goal line carries and will take over if Williams falters

Forte- is the man in Chicago...but they'll be stacking the line on him.

    K. Smith- is the man in Detroit.  You could beat out Tatum Bell.

    F. Jones- Great talent but will only get 10 carries/game at best (unless Barber gets hurt).

Slaton- Someone's gotta carry the rock in Texas...and it ain't gonna be Green.

Rice- McGahee having health issues and the Rutgers grad is looking GOOD!

Mendenhall- will get goal line opps. That's about it.

    C. Johnson- Great talent, but there's a lot of RBs in Tenn.

Hightower- James will falter by the end of the season and the better RB will take over...that's Hightower.

Now I realize that your question didn't focus solely on rookies, so here are some other options:

    R. Williams--he's looking good and R. Brown is a major health risk

Perry- Rudi is on the ropes and may be out of town so he'll have the opportunity to get significant carries but...

Watson- will get a chance as well if Perry falters.

Ward- Jacobs will not play 16 games.  Send that to the bank.

Walker- if he can keep his sanity, he's got skills and has proven it in the past.

Obomanu- Hasslebeck has to throw to somebody and he's got skills.

Ginn Jr.- will be the #1 on a team that will be throwing a lot b/c they'll be behind.

DeAngelo Williams-  fighting hard to keep his job and looking great with a great ypc in the preseason.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck!
