I am joining a league at work. What is the best order to pick players throughout the draft? There will be 16 teams and 16 rounds. Each team selects 3 QB's, 5 RB's, 5 WR's, 2 TE's, 1 K and 1 Team Defense. I keep up with NFL all year long. I know who I want but don't really know what order I should draft in. QB or RB 1st?

  1. a RB cause they get rushing and reicieving yards

  2. id go after a running back ,they are harder too get

  3. It's gonna be tough to draft 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 5 WRs, 2 TEs, 1 K and 1 D if you only have 16 rounds (3+5+5+2+1+1=17). This also means that your league would be drafting all starting QBs in the NFL plus 16 backups.  I assume you meant 2 QBs?  I would draft a RB first, but keep in mind that with 16 teams each drafting 2 QBs, every starter in the league will be gone, so don't get caught sleeping on that position.

Actually, I find you league roster settings a little odd.  5 RBs x 16 teams means that there will be 80 RBs drafted (and 80 WRs for that matter).  There is certainly not 80 RBs in the NFL who are worth draftingin fantasy leagues, or WRs for that matter.  Do you have to keep these roster settings all season?  That means that if you have a great team D like San Diego or Minnesota, you will have to drop them and pick up another to cover the bye week, which means that someone could swoop in and grab your stud D the following week.   Your league might want to rethink things...

  4. It depends on the scoring for each position in the league.  I can better asses that if I knew.

I think your league has a bigger issue to think about.  There are 32 pro teams.  You have a league that starts 3 QBs at a time.  That is a total of 30 QBs playing at one time.  So what are you guys going to do on the bye weeks?  There are only 2 QBs left.  It is feasible if you had 2 QBs starting each week for each team.  That way you have bye week bench players.

Thumbs up to those who agree.

  5. take a RB in the first round because they go fast especially if you have 16 teams.

  6. It all depends on your scoring system... but going on no info I would target a RB as your first option and maybe even your second pick as well. Good QB's can be picked in later rounds, so I wouldn't sweat it. Brady and Manning will go early, and the rest will be available throughout the later rounds. Unless the QB position is tops in scoring my strategy is always to go strong on RB's for the first two rounds and then consider WR and QB options. In my opinion, WR's can be more valuable than the remainder of the available QB's after the top few.
