Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week – Gameweek 7 – Part 2
The Barclays Premier League sticks to the same formula of throwing surprises and very few were expecting the likes of Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker to end up bagging 11-points by the end of the Gameweek.
Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer earned himself the ‘Goal Keeper of the week’ award, while Liverpool’s Jose Enrique joined Walker in the back four.
Defenders (Continued...)
Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City – 10 Points
It seems that no Team of the Week is complete without the inclusion of a player from Manchester City’s team sheet and Gameweek 7 is no different as Aleksandar Kolarov ensured that the trend continued.
A Clean Sheet, Bonus point and an assist helped him to end the weekend with a tally of 10 points.
However, with only 0.5% of managers having selected the player for their sides, there may not be too many smiles over his performance from Fantasy Managers.
David Luiz – Chelsea – 8 Points
Some may call him Sideshow Bob due to the similarity the player’s hairstyle has with the character from the Simpsons, but there was nothing cartoonish about his performance over the weekend.
While Chelsea did concede a goal and Luiz did earn himself a booking, the Chelsea centre-half still managed to bag an impressive eight points. It just goes to show what an attack-minded defender can do for a Fantasy Premier League manager. It is not every
day that one hears of a centre-half with two assists to his name in a single match.
While Aston Villa’s James Collins and Manchester United’s Phil Jones were also level with Luiz on eight points, Chelsea players’ overall contribution meant that his name would end up on the team sheet come the end of the day.
Moving on now to the middle of the park where one player stood out.
Midfielders
Frank Lampard – Chelsea – 20 Points
Many were writing Frank Lampard off during the course of the season, claiming that the Chelsea midfielder was getting too old to be playing in his favoured role. Yet, the Fantasy Premier League transfer market valued him highly with a price of over 10-million
in in-game currency.
It seems that if one wants to see the true value of a player on a consistent basis over a lengthy period of time, then it is the Transfer Market of the Fantasy Premier League they should turn to.
Scoring a scintillating hat-trick, Lampard helped himself to a very handy 15 points. A match ball meant that one had to look nowhere else but at the Chelsea number eight for awarding the maximum number of Bonus Points.
Having Lampard as the side’s captain would have done wonders for any manager, as a 40-Point tally from one single player is the stuff Fantasy Premier League dreams are made of.
However, there were a number of fine midfield displays this past weekend with quite a few players managing to break into the double figures mark.
