Fantasy Premier League: The Team of Gameweek 3 – Samir Nasri, Frank Lampard, Charlie Adam – Part 3
With the Goalkeeper (Tim Howard, Everton), the defenders (Emmerson Boyce of Wigan Athletic, Martin Skrtel of Liverpool, Jose Bosingwa of Chelsea, Ryan Shotton of Stoke City) and the highest scoring player of Gameweek 3 (Ashley Young of Manchester United)
out of the way, it is time to look at the rest of the Team of the Week.
Midfielders (continued)
It would be tough for anyone to top the feats of Ashley Young’s astronomically high 23-point tally, but that did not mean there were not many who at least tried.
Samir Nasri (Manchester City)
It seems that if any player wants to make a successful debut, then Manchester City is the place to be. Following Sergio Aguero’s example, City new boy, Samir Nasri managed to help himself to 13 points against Tottenham.
Instrumental in midfield and linking up with the strikers on three occasions for three assists, Nasri played well enough to earn himself 2 Bonus points. Playing the full 90 minutes on his debut also helped Fantasy managers as that meant the standard two
points were in the bag as well.
More importantly though, he will be thanking his lucky stars that he was not part of the Arsenal side that was mauled by Manchester United.
Slightly expensive at 9.5-million, only 3.4% of the managers benefitted from having the Frenchman in their squad but one can expect that number to grow over the coming game weeks.
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Taking a slice of the point’s cake is Chelsea’s talisman Frank Lampard. While he may have been up to his usual goal scoring antics, the attack-minded midfielder was also instrumental in pulling the strings in the Blue’s midfield.
Setting up one of his side’s goal for the 3 points that come with an assist and earning himself 3 points in the process. Just proving how vital a role he played in the match he was awarded 3 Bonus points as well.
Yet the key moment was him putting away a late penalty which ensured Chelsea could afford to relax in the closing moments of the match.
After a slow start, points wise, Lampard seemed more the kind of player this previous Gameweek, who is known to earn points on a consistent basis.
Charlie Adam/Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
It was a good week to be a Liverpool fan, or to have Liverpool midfielders in one’s fantasy side, as both new arrivals from the summer transfer window managed to bag themselves 11 points apiece.
Starting things off with Charlie Adam, who not only scored a splendid goal himself, but also set up fellow team of the week member, Martin Skrtel for his goal as well. Earning 8 points in the process (3 for the assist and 5 for the goal).
Playing a full 90 minutes did not hurt either nor did the one bonus point the midfielder managed to earn for his overall efforts. Affordable and set to play a key role in the absence of Steven Gerrard, Adam is surely worth a few more points in the coming
few weeks.
