We analyse the Goal Keepers that Fantasy Premier League managers should be looking to have in their Starting XI for Gameweek 18
The trick to choosing a keeper for a Fantasy Premier League side is to not only look at the side’s previous defensive record but also any injuries the squad is suffering from. The opposition is also an important factor, yet if one is looking for a long term
replacement instead of a quick fix till an injured or suspended player returns, the team’s fixtures in the long run should also be considered.
With that in mind, here are a few picks for Fantasy Premier League managers to scratch their heads over:
Goal Keepers
Joe Hart - Manchester City
Manchester City have relatively less threatening opponents in their next two fixtures, before they take on Liverpool in Gameweek 20. Joe Hart has been in inspired form and is a keeper every manager should at least consider at one point or the other.
Pepe Reina – Liverpool
The side that has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League owes that fact, in large part, to the fantastic ability of their goal keeper.
Reina may have started out slow but his in a thick vein of form as of late and despite his hefty asking price is a consistent performer.
Michel Vorm - Swansea
How the Swansea goal keeper has managed to continue his point earning performance so far into the season is a miracle in its own rights. We have ignored him long enough and his performances have earned him a place as one of THE keepers to have in one’s squad.
The keeper is currently the top point earner in the Fantasy Premier League, followed closely behind by Pepe Reina.
Ali Al Habsi – Wigan Athletic
May not continue his superb performances in the long run yet as of right now he is a brilliant cheap alternative to have in one’s squad. Costing a mere 4.5-million in the transfer market, one might even keep him as a backup.
Brad Friedel – Tottenham Hotspur
The American international is part of a Spurs side that is looking more and more the part with each match they get under their belt.
While Tottenham’s defence may not be the most solid, it does allow Friedel to shine at times and earn those few extra points with his saves.
Any of these keepers are sure to do great for the managers that pick them, however, in the long term the likes of Joe Hart and Pepe Reina are sure to give more in return and are top picks for the weekend and beyond.
