Fantasy / Simulation Hockey - trade involving Crosby - should I do it? Is this enough?

Ok, so in this simulation league, I have Sidney Crosby, the only problem is, in this, he's an RFA right now, he's asking for 8.7M, and I don't have the cap space for him. I've tried trading others to free up the cap, but I couldn't get anything else to work. I need to make a deal by friday night.

So here is one of the deals - actualy the leading deal out of the 9 i've recived, I really feel like doing this one

I get:

C Paul Stastny

D Adam Foote

W Chris Clark

G Jonathan Bernier (prospect)

they get:

C Sidney Crosby

W James Neal (prospect)

these are their overall rattings in the simulation file. Decent players are in the 60's, anything below 60 is pretty crappy. anything like 65+ are like superstars

Crosby - 74

Stastny - 66

Foote - 63

Clark - 64

Foote is 37, but I like have no D right now.

I really think this would be a smart trade, and the goalie prospect looks like a stud .943 save % in AHL last season I believe, something like that.

  1. In the upcoming season I think you will see Crosby put up some Gretzky like numbers.  That's worth a couple of forwards easy.  Of course that's if he stays healthy.  I don't think you should trade him.

  2. Bernier's definitely good. Drop Neal and throw in someone better and ask the other person who to throw a better d-man than Foote if he's a 37. After that, it'll be the perfect trade.

What kind of simulation league is this?

  3. Yes, trading Drury or somebody for lesser value is a good idea to keep Crosby. Either way you loose, and you might as well  loose a player who's not nearly as good.

    Keep Crosby.

  4. thats a ripoff.. crosbys is going to be one of the best players in the NHL for years to come, adam footes like 80 yrs old, etc.. for that trade to be fair u would need to get one more decent player or another prospect along with a subpar defenseman or something

but if u do it, keep the prospect Neal, its already enough of a ripoff u might as well keep your future

  5. wow. sure?

  6. You should do it to free up the cap space, but try to either get another D prospect or switch someone out for Foote.  He is good, but he won't help you down the line, and the guy getting Crosby will definitely be getting help far into the future, so he should have to give something up too.  Don't get too hooked on the G prospects either, alot of their stats are brought on by the team they play for.

I say, up the ante a little. You are giving up alot, you should get at least a top forward and defenseman for your megastar.  Stastny is a good forward, but Foote isnt a good enough dman, switch him out for a better prospective defenseman.
