trying to improve my team before the deadline, and this trade was proposed to me.

i give: teixiera and lidge

i get: morneau, scott baker, fernando rodney

this is my roster:

c-hernandez

1b-teixiera

2b-upton, kendrick

3b-huff, encarnacion

ss-hardy

of-vlad, soriano, mclouth, rowand, pierre

sp-sabathia, lincecum, hamels, mussina, jurrjens, w. rodriguez, pelfrey, c. young, lirano

rp-lidge, morrow, izzy

the only problem i have with the trade is fernando rodney. since farnsworth is coming into town, i would assume he would eventually take over closing duties and would do a much better job then rodney and jones. farnsworth is available on the waivers. should i accept the trade, drop rodney and pick up farnsworth. or is there somewhere in my roster that i need to improve more.

thanks for any and all input!!

  1. Well, there's absolutely no reason to perform the latter idea: making a 3 for 2 trade only to drop a player means you must really believe you're dominating some other part of the trade, and in this case you would not be.

Let's consider Morneau and Tex a wash, even though I slightly favor Tex.  From there, you would be trading Lidge for Scott Baker, which would not be a terrible deal, but you appear to need RP help way more than SP help.  If Farnsworth is an FA in your league, the better option here would probably be dropping Izzy and picking him up, while avoiding this trade altogether.

  2. That would be a horrendous decision on your part.

Two solid players for Morneau?  No way.
