Fantasy football advice, I need help, please answer?????

This is the first year I will be in a live draft without any type of auto pick or player rankings. My main question is what is the order you usually select positions? 1st rd. RB, 2nd WR, etc.? Anybody have any suggestions what position to pick in each round? I know it varies by who is available and where I am picking, but would like a little help.

Rule of thumb: 2 out of the first 3 rounds...select rb's. All the top ones will be gone after that. Since rb's and qb's usually score the most fantasy points, select your qb next. But since you can pick up a really decent qb as late as the 5th or 6th rounds and  top wr's are scarce this year, You might want to pick up that top receiver before you pick your qb. Save te's, def/st's & k's for last. Then pick your bench players on the basis of the best players available. Make sure that all your starting players are starters. Try a mock draft. Cbs sports has them 24 hrs a day. It'l give you a pretty good idea once you see the results.

Usually go with a RB early. The only players worth taking over a RB early would be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. There aren't a lot of great QBs, so I would get one pretty early, but it all depends on who is there. WRs go after RBs and all depends on when you want a QB. Go with a Kicker last and your defense in the late rounds. Pick a TE after the 5th round.

Usually it is best to get a running back. You can google, espn top 200 fantasy football 2008 and it will give you a list of the top  200 scoring projections.  There are certain things to watch for such as a drop off in scoring.  After Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Carson Palmer there is usually a big drop off, points wise in the qb position so it would make it worth it to get running backs after that.  Try to not go for running backs that split carries with many other running backs.  This is the case with maurice jones drew and it used to be the case with marion barber.  He was always only the erd down back but now he may get more carries.

Taking the best player available regardless of position is never a bad draft strategy. That is how I would go. That said, don't bother picking a kicker until the very last round. It's a wasted pick.

It really depends on the scoring system in your league. Do QB's get 4 or 6 pts for a TD? Do rb/wr you get points per reception? How many players do you have to start, 2 rbs or 3? Usually go rb,rb, wr, wr, qb...then fill in the rest. But say QB's get 6pts a TD, then may want to draft a QB in the 2nd rd. Points per reception help rb's like reggie bush, or steven jackson.
