Question:

Fantasy football waiver wire question?

In all of experts blogs I hear about all the waiver wire studs they've lost or won on Tuesday. This is my second year of commishing, and last year players could be picked up on mid-Sunday and Monday. How can I make it be so Tuesday is the waiver wire free for all like they say. Because if your stuck to your computer all day you could get a hurt player's back up first, and i dont want that to happen.

  1. go into your league settings and make the change

  2. Why don't you want a dedicated player to be rewarded?

  3. nflnhlgolf,

You are correct that the best (and most fair) way to administer the waiver-wire process is to revert the processing until Tuesday morning.  The problem with making it any sooner is just the reason you stated: that someone could sit by their computer all day and grab-up good deals.

I for one have season tickets so I don't get back home until Sunday evenings, so should someone who is able to watch the games at home have an advantage over me?  Of course not.  The only fair way to administer the system is by scheduling the waiver processing and letting teams queue their rested moves.

In addition to being more fair, moving the waiver-wire start to Tuesday also adds an element of strategy.  Sometimes it may pay to not make a waiver request so as to move up in the waiver priority in subsequent weeks.  Tuesday also works well because it gives all teams a chance to witness the Monday Night Football game and plan accordingly.

I'm not sure which fantasy football hosting service you use, but almost all of them have a setting for changing the day on which the waiver requests are processed.  Usually this setting is limited to days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.  Just have a thoroughly look through your commissioner tools and you should be able to find it.
