Fantasy or sci-fi recommendations please?

Question

im looking for more novels or series that are hopefully similar to some of these, which i loved:

hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

bartimaeus trilogy

his dark materials

stardust, neverwhere, anansi boys

the sword in the stone

please only respond if youve read one or more of these. sorry, but i dont really feel like ending up w/a billion recommendations of one of the latest vampire novels T_T thanks in advance though :)

If you like the humor of Hitchhiker's, then try the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett or the Xanth books by Piers Anthony. THere are plenty of books in both of these fantasy series and they will keep you laughing througout with the social satire and puns. They also include a lot of great characters.

You might also try:

Anne McCaffrey (Dragonriders of Pern, Acorna and many other fantasy/sci-fi series),

Larry Niven (Ringworld series, sci-fi),

Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game, sci-fi),

oh, i loved his dark materials! the first was the best though, in my opinion. i also liked the bartimaeus books a lot, and i've read hitchhiker's.

ok, i read more fantasy, but here are some good ones, with some sci-fi mixed in there:

- the lord of the rings. classic!

- the old kingdom trilogy

- the hero and the crown

- the princess bride

- the artemis fowl series

- the uglies series

- the percy jackson and the olympians series

- the earthsea series
