Fantine Lesaffre wins Women’s 400m IM gold: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Fantine Lesaffre of Alliance Dijon Natation won gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on fourth day of the 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Sunday, November 18.
Lesaffre showed no mercy to her opponents in the 16-lap discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal. With her unrelenting efforts in the 400m discipline, Lesaffre stayed prominently ahead of her opponents and secured the title.
She enjoyed a lead of two body lengths over her closest swimmer and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal with a wonderful timing of 4 minutes and 39.04 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Isabelle Mabboux of AC Boulogne-Billancourt, who was 2.04 seconds behind and ended her race in second place by posting a time of 4 minutes and 41.08 seconds.
Third spot of the race was obtained by Adeline Martin of CN Antibes, who was only 0.19 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 41.27 seconds.
Martin was traced by Julie Berthier of Mulhouse On, who stayed 8.13 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for fourth position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 49.40 seconds.
Berthier was followed by Julie Fourtier of CSN Guyancourt, who was 0.65 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for fifth position by touching the wall with an effort 4 minutes and 50.05 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Marion Blanchard of Angers Natation, who was 1.31 seconds apart and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 51.36 seconds.
Similarly, Blanchard remained nearly five seconds ahead of Clotilde Matrat of FOS-SUR-Mer Natation, who obtained seventh spot of the race by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 56.08 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Rebecca Matthews of Su Agen, who was 0.18 seconds slower and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 56.23 seconds.
In addition, Lesaffre was overjoyed with her gold finish and articulated her desire of accomplishing the same at forthcoming 2012 World Championships in Turkey, this December.
