The Algerian international’s future at AS Saint-Etienne is still uncertain and he would thus welcome a move to Olympique de Marseille
While talking to media a few days back, AS Saint-Etienne defender Faouzi Ghoulam said that he wants to stay at the Rhone club but will not rule out the possibility of leaving Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
“I understand, everyone defends their interests. My goal is to extend but then the players in my situation leave.”
The youngster was clearly disappointed with Les Verts extension proposal offered to him. ASSE are willing to give the youngster 30,000 euros per month which the Algerian feels is not good enough, thus sparking rumours of a departure.
Furthermore, a lot of clubs have actually been monitoring the youngster’s contractual situation so Ghoulam would seriously consider a departure if his financial needs are not met.
According to Algerian sports daily, Le Buteur, the 21-year-old would be willing to leave Christophe Galtier’s side if a club comes up with a better offer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are impressed by the left-back’s performances and are willing to make a move for him.
First of all, Ghoulam’s contract at the club expires in June 2014 which means that Les Verts would want a nice check to let go of the young player. Secondly, Marseille are far from alone in terms of the player’s suitors. The likes of Girondins de Bordeaux,
Toulouse and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 are also keen on signing the talented left-back which means that Les Phoceens will be hard-pressed to attain the defender’s signature.
Faouzi Ghoulam is a product of AS Saint-Etienne’s excellent youth academy and made his professional debut for the first-team back in 2010 in a Coupe de la Ligue game against OGC Nice.
Though the youngster has been considered as the part of the future, AS Saint-Etienne do not show a lot of confidence in the player by giving him a modest contract renewal.
Since 2010, the youngster has made 38 appearances for Les Verts and if ASSE do decide to let him go, it would be a very bad move as the player could become an integral part of the project at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
