I'm sure this has already been announced today, but I don't care.

Jagr has announced he's leaving for Russia....

.......Sad news for me. Almost makes tears well up in my eyes....

" Especially in Pittsburgh with Mario (Lemieux) and Ron Francis and Bryan Trottier and Paul Coffey - all those great players. I had a chance to learn hockey from them. I was very lucky."

"Probably the luckiest year was when I was 18 years old and came to the Pittsburgh Penguins, It's not only about winning the Cup but it's about the players that won the Cup. They players on that team worked so hard to win that Cup. When you're a young guy and you see how hard the older guys work, you feel bad if you don't do that with them. They taught me everything - on the ice and off the ice."

I think that's the nicest thing he's ever said. =')

I wish the best of luck to him.

  1. Its good for him,  he's accomplished a lot in the NHL, and he can accomplish a lot still in europe, he is young enough to have 3-4 seasons and really give this league some credibility,

i hope he wins a league scoring title

  2. I think his term in NY was over, so I'm not unhappy that he didn't resign with us.  Honestly, I was never convinced he would be able to lead the Rangers to the cup... he just didn't seem to fit the team, for some reason.

That said, he was a phenomenal player, and brought a lot to the league.  His contributions to both the Rangers and Pens cannot be understated.

I'm happy that he had the career he did, and he got to play with some great players that really brought out his skill.  He won a cup, he got his name in the record books (the Rangers' record books, at least), but it seems as if his time was up.

He will be missed, but I feel like this was the best thing for him and my team at this time.  Plus, I'm glad he's not a penguin, so we don't have to play against him 6 x a year. :).

    Thanks Jags...

  3. wonder is Jagr will start and trend of going over seas to earn more money, when healthy there was not many better

  4. Im gonna miss him & his habit of tucking his jersey in.

He's a great player, and he's been one of my idols growing up.

I love Jagr, I wish he still could play in the NHL.. but im happy for him.

  5. I'm an Isles fan. I'm happy!

    : D

  6. Yep hes out now my russians can actually have some well-known players

  7. Well i'm not a big fan of Jagr, but i don't think he should of went to Russia. He is still a good player and i wish the best of luck to him!

  8. I am a Rangers fan and I am pissed!  I was hoping he would play one more year with the Rangers considering when the season ended he said he wanted to stay in NY.  I think the whole thing sucks.

  9. I never wanted Jagr back. I just expected bad things if that deal would have gone down...
