Farhan Mehboob pleased with Jansher Khan's appointment as coach
Pakistani squash star Farhan Mehboob has said that he believes appointing former professional and legend Jansher Khan as advisor and head coach to the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) could help Pakistani squash regain its lost glory.
Mehboob, Currently ranked number two in Pakistan, thinks that Jansher Khan is a legendary player and feels that giving him the project of coaching and improving the level of squash in the country is an excellent decision by the PSF. Farhan added that the
presence of a player like Khan in the national camp would itself be a great motivating factor for Pakistani squash players.
Farhan told reporters, “Certainly, he is a legendary player and one of the best players Pakistan has ever produced, so with him leading the camp, the players would be motivated and they would also thrive to follow his footsteps. One coach cannot handle all
the players. Having coaches and trainers separately for senior, junior and female players is a very prudent decision made by the PSF."
Mehboob went on to say that the PSF's earlier decision to put a single coach in charge of both the senior and junior squads had damaged the sport of squash in the country. PSF President Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman took the decision to appoint Jansher
Khan as head coach. During his career as a professional, Khan clinched eight World Open titles and was formerly ranked number one in the World.
Farhan added that Pakistan has great talent as far as the game of squash is concerned, and there is only a lack of proper grooming. The 22-year-old also stressed that he wants a complete end to politics within the sport in order for Pakistani squash to regain
it's lost glory under the new coach.
Mehboob said, “I see a lot of politics in squash and every person looks for personal gains. However, I hope with a new approach, Pakistan Squash Federation will be able to propel squash towards glory."
