Farida Osman captures Women’s 50m butterfly title: Day two – 2011 All Africa Games
Egyptian swimmer, Farida Osman, put up a great show on day two of the 2011 All African Games at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Tuesday, September 6. The final session conducted the Women’s 50m butterfly event, where Egyptian swimmer,
Farida Osman, hit the wall in a fastest time of 27.08 seconds to win the gold medal. In the preliminary heat, Farida posted a top time of 27.24 seconds.
After notching the golden crown, the feelings and expressions of the Egyptian athlete were unexplainable. Farida said that she would give the credit of this scintillating victory to her swimming trainer. She had really worked hard in order to win this title,
so she was happy and pleased with her attempt in the meet. Furthermore, she told that she will definitely continue her winning form in the same style.
In the corresponding race, Mandy Loots of South Africa took home the silver medal on the podium by submitting an intriguing time of 27.30 seconds. On the other hand, Binta Zahra Diop of Senegal earned bronze medal with an impressive mark of 28.45 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Karin Prinsloo of South Africa secured the gold medal in the Women’s 200m freestyle with a winning mark of 1 minute and 59.84 seconds. Zeineb Khalfallah of Tunisia picked silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 05.44 seconds, while Natasha
De Vos South Africa snared bronze title in the respective meet with a time of 2 minutes and 06.20 seconds.
Additionally, Jason Dunford of Kenya won the Men’s 100m butterfly title with a victorious time of 52.13 seconds, while Chad Le Clos of South Africa settled for silver medal with a winning mark of 52.17 seconds. Neil Watson of South Africa grabbed bronze
title after he touched the wall and ended his swim in a time of 55.14 seconds.
The arena gave a huge ovation to all contestants of the competition, while the winners were awarded accolades on behalf of their mind boggling performances after the session’s completion.
