Farloe Hulk wins The Owlerton Bookmakers Standard at Sheffield
The white and black dog, Farloe Hulk, started as the favourite, and notched up first position in The Owlerton Bookmakers Standard event at Sheffield on January 17. It was Open Race of 500m category.
The other five runners of the event included Clerihan Gold, Ballymac Mead, Stepaside Bigjak, Trickys On Fire and Lethal Tiger.
The results of the race were quite predictable. With the starting price of 1 to 1, the trainee of B Draper broke from trap 2 when the race started at 21:17.
From the very beginning, the dog was in the driving seat. Suddenly, he increased his speed and managed to open a big lead over his opponents.
From the middle of the track and onwards, he ran unchallenged. None of his competitors was in position to catch up with him.
Thus, the dog reached the finish line in 29.52 seconds unbeaten with a margin of 3 lengths.
The son of Premier Fantasy achieved this spot for the 4th time in his short career which began on June 7, 2011. He has run nine times overall so far.
The bookies were also pleased at Farloe Hulk’s predicted victory, reiterating to tag him as favourite in the upcoming races as well.
Clerihan Gold finished second in the race with a difference of 3 lengths. Breaking from trap 5, the brindle dog bumped badly in the start, but managed to run on with smooth pace till the end.
The son of Goldmine Ramble made his debut in February 2011. Trained by J Sharp, the dog is short on winning races. He was whelped in August 2008.
The third top position went to Ballymac Mead, who broke from trap 3, and got choked for room after getting stuck in traffic. That is why the brindle b***h could not excel. However, she was persistent and harassed, Clerihan Gold till the last moment,
running side by side to him for some time.
The daughter of Ballymac Freddie took 29.79 seconds to bridge the distance, trailing by just 0.3 seconds. Whelped in February 2009, she is trained by E T Parker.
At the end of the event, the topper bagged the cash prize of £200, while each of the other hounds got £30.
