Farloe Kyle wins The Owlerton Bookmakers Puppy 500 at Sheffield
The fawn dog trained by B Draper, Farloe Kyle, triggered a huge upset by beating the most favourite runner to win the Grade OR The Owlerton Bookmarkers Puppy 500 at about 500m at Sheffield on January 17.
The triumphant hound competed against Sawpit Sensation, Rockview Impact, Ballymac Miriam, Swift Example and Swift Frogma.
It was an amazing and surprising race which produced unexpected results. Before the start of the event, none of the spectators and bookies could even imagine that a novice dog would accomplish such a magnificent victory.
The break call came at 20:47. Farloe Kyle was in trap 2. Just after breaking, the dog leapt to take the lead, and opened up a considerable gap between him at the rest of the pack. It was expected that he will bump or get slowed down in the middle of
the track, but the fervent runner did not.
Keeping his speed and stamina unnerved, the son of Hondo Black reached the finish line in 29.37 seconds, with a huge margin of 4 ¼ lengths.
It was the young hound’st fifth race, who made his debut on November 29, 2011. He achieved this position for the 2nd time in his short career.
Whelped in March 2010, the dog possesses excellent skills and sheer strength to fight and win against big adversaries.
The bettors were also deeply moved by the awesome performance of Farloe Kyle, who beautifully established himself as a favourite prospect for the future events.
The second position went to Sawpit Sensation. The black dog was the only favourite runner with starting price of 11 to 10. After breaking from trap 5, he got bumped in the beginning, and lost the entire momentum. Afterwards, he failed to get the motor
running, and fell behind to finish second.
The son of Head Bound ran for the 7th time yesterday, and ended with this spot for the second time. Whelped in February 2010, he started his career on October 14, 2011. The trainee of D A Hunt disappointed his supporters a lot.
Rockview Impact finished third in the race with a slight difference of 0.3 seconds. Breaking from trap 6, the dog completed the distance in 29.74 seconds. This dog was also whelped in February 2010. He is trained by N Melbourne.
At the end of the event, the 1st prize worth £200 was presented to Farloe Kyle, while each of the other five runners received £30.
