Farloe Orion finished first in The Swindon 509 metres Bags at Swindon
Farloe Orion, a black dog trained by M W Jeans, stunned all by notching up first position in the Grade OR The Swindon 509 metre Bags Open Race event, held at Swindon.
Being the least favourite with 8 to 1 starting price, the maverick racer outperformed his competitors including Millridge Duke, World Charm, Hedsor Lucas, Monkspath Azluke and Forest Ted.
It was an interesting and thrilling race which produced unbelievable results with the most favourite hound finishing last.
Once the break call came at 20:04, Farloe Orion broke from trap 2 with an average pace. Till the first 10 seconds of the race, the dog was crowded and struggled in taking the lead. However, he did not lose heart, and managed to break through the opponents
to excel.
After leading, the son of Yeah Man increased his speed and reached the finish line in 30.68 seconds. His victory did not come easy, as Millridge Duke, challenged many times during the course of the race, but failed by ¾ of a length.
It was for the first time the dog gained this position in 509m category, since his debut in April 2011. The triumphant racer was whelped in January 2009. His outstanding performance in the race pleased Jeans much and the trainer was hopeful that his
dog will replicate this performance in races to come.
The second position in the race went to, Millridge Duke, who broke from trap 1. The black and white dog seemed to be in great from in the beginning, evading the traffic and leading first.
The son of Duke Special managed to sustain his front position till the middle of the track. However, he did not lose heart even after, Farloe Orion, had the better of him in the closing stages of the race.
The trainee of L Dickinson finished in 30.74 seconds. It was the dog’s second 509m and sixth overall race. He started his career in October 2011 at Nottingham. He was whelped in August 2009.
World Charm finished third in the race by reaching the finish line in 30.86 seconds, with a difference of 1 ½ lengths. The trainee of M Walsh, broke from trap 4. The dog tried to challenge, Millridge Duke, in the start, but his efforts weren’t enough
to change the fate of the race.
Since his debut in April 2010, it was for the fifth time the dog ended up with this position in this category. He was whelped in March 2008.
Farloe Orion bagged the 1st prize worth of £150, with Millridge Duke getting £25. Each of the other finishers earned £20.
