Farloe Skywalker, the faster amongst the 3 winners in Primus Telecom Grand National Semi-Finals
Trainer matt Dartnall’s greyhound Farloe Skywalker was the fastest greyhound amongst the three winners in semi finals of Primus Telecom Grand National on Friday, 26th August.
Three Semi-finals of Primus Telecom Grand National were staged over at Wimbledon on Friday night.
Farloe Skywalker, competing in the second semi final, was the quickest of the three winners in the three semi finals.
Trainer Richard Rees’s’ greyhound Victoria Falls emerged victorious in the first semi-final.
She had a bumpy start and her victory was undecided until she took the lead of the race near the finish line in 30.57 seconds.
The runner-up, Clonkeen Theo, chased Victoria Falls on his heels but failed miserably, finishing the race barely half a length short of the winner.
There was a difference of  merely four points between the two greyhounds and the credit goes to Victoria Falls for holding Clonkeen Theo off so beautifully.
The next semi final was a one dog race for greyhound Farloe Skywalker who crossed the finish line in 29.83 seconds.
Greyhound Opening Joe had the lead of the race until the fourth race when Farloe Skywalker shifted gears and charged all the way to the finish line.
However, he did face some competition by Swift Defender at the sixth bend but managed to maintain his hold on the lead and finish the race first.
The last semi final of the evening had Forest Rico as the winning contender. Runner up Black hall chased him all the way to the finish line but a split seconf difference of 16 points prevented him from winning the semi final.
Forest Rico led the race from the start and had a very smooth race except for the end when Blackhall Prince levelled with him.
It was a nip and tuck between these two greyhounds after that, all the way to the finish line, and the semi final might have resulted in a tie, had it not been for the difference of speed between the two contenders.
Matt Dartnall has a good deal of expectations from the greyhound Farloe Skywalker in the upcoming final and reflecting on Farloe Skywalker’s performance in the semi finals. The odds are highly in his favour.
