Farloe Spitfire to land the Grade OR Bettor.com Peterborough Puppy Derby - Heat 5 on 14th April, 2012
The anxiously awaited Grade OR Bettor.com Peterborough Puppy Derby - Heat 5 will take place on 14th April, 2012 at 21:34 GMT.
The six hounds, Farloe Spitfire, Be Real, Fillthefryer, Little Reminder, Romeo You Decide, and Gortilea Rover, will compete over a distance of 420 metres for £100.
Be Real, son of Droopys Maldini, out of Droopys Bridie, has been performing in an incredible manner. He has constant secured placed finishes since the season began.
He triumphed in his seasonal debut by defeating, Lacken Honey, by a massive margin of 7 lengths in the Grade OR Primus Telecom Puppy Derby Trial Stakes at Henlow on 5th January, 2012.
On 23rd March, 2012, he finished as a runner-up in the Grade OR Coral Romford Puppies at Romford, to Guinness Dusty, by 3 ¾ lengths.
Trainer D. Mullins has been taking the hound through solo runs in order to build his form and improve his timing. He finished the 420 metre course at Peterborough in 25.67 seconds on 26th March, 2012.
He covered the same distance at the same track in a much faster time of 25.31 seconds on 2nd April, 2012. Apart from his solo runs, he has not raced before at Peterborough.
Farloe Spitfire, trained by B. Draper, will race as a favourite today with the odds of 2 to 1. The son of Droopys Scolari, out of Youraisemeup, triumphed in the Grade OR RSC Security Race at Sheffield on 18th March, 2012.
He raced as a favourite with the odds of 11 to 10, and defeated, Cabriol Shamrock, by a wide margin of 5 ½ lengths.
He began his season in a fabulous manner, as he safely tucked a hat-trick under his belt in the beginning of the season.
The lightly raced hound has not raced at Peterborough, but Draper ran him through two solo runs on this track.
He completed the 420 metre track in 25.77 seconds on 26th March, 2012. His speed improved, as he covered the same distance in 25.26 seconds.
It is speculated that Farloe Spitfire will emerge victorious from this race today, based on his performance and his practice runs. It will be a close race as Be Real can give him a serious run for his money.
