Trainer Paul Sallis was the toast of Swindon on Tuesday night as he trained a one-two in the Betfair Arc final live on Sky Sports.
It was his Farloe Titan, (7-1) who blitzed out of trap three on the 480m track. He was threatened by kennelmate Klockwork Kyla (4-1) who trailed behind from trap six, but it was Titan who led all the way to win a one-and-a-half lengths.
Titan clocked an impressive 28.38secs to secure the £8,000 prize, while Kyla finished in second at 28.51secs adding an extra £1,000 to the camps’ collection.
Trainer Nick Savva’s 2008 Swindon Produce winner, Westmead Osprey (4-7 favourite), has had relatively little racing in the past 18 months, but with a record of seven wins from seven starts, he was the favourite to bag the Arc.
Osprey had been drawn in trap one in his last three race for the competition and he produced the fastest track time on each occasion. Tuesday night saw him start from behind trap two, only to be got caught in trouble on the dash to the turn. He was never able to catch up to the winner and second, ending his unbeaten run at the track as he clocked 28.50secs to finish third.
Gilbeyhall Jake (5-1) followed in at 28.52secs to take fourth spot, Lifes Burble (20-1) finished in 28.95secs to take fifth, whilst Grillagh Guru (20-1) ended the exciting night in a time of 29.02secs and finished last.
The next live Sky televised meeting will be for the Racing Post Juvenile on Tuesday Feb 9th.
