Farloe Warhawk makes eleventh hour laurel in Ladbrokes Laurels Final
For the punters, spectators and B. Draper, every moment of the high-profile race of Ladbrokes Laurels Final was nerve-rending as they witnessed a deadly battle among the 4-5 favourite, Farloe Warhawk, and his two strong rivals named as Longwood Fantasy and
Taranis Rex for 28.26 seconds at the Belle Vue racecourse on Tuesday night.
Before the start of the £6000 contest, nobody could expect such a rip-roaring clash as most of the analysts and bettors thought that Draper’s brilliant young pupil, Farloe Warhawk, would be able to thrive quite convincingly.
But when the race began, everything seemed to be going against the expectations. Breaking from Trap 2, Farloe Warhawk had to endure a lot of trouble. He got crowded badly, and thus, failed to produce his traditional pace.
On the other hand, K. Hutton’s Taranis Rex managed to take lead. C. Callow’s Longwood Fantasy was also there to give a tough time to the favourite candidate.
All of Farloe Warhawk’s fans and the punters who had staked their money on the two-year-old black dog were sad enough with the situation.
But, just a few yards ahead of the finish line, Draper’s pupil suddenly got momentum and jumped fast to win by a neck’s margin, giving a sigh of relief to his trainer and bookmakers alike.
With Longwood Fantasy being the runner-up, Taranis Rex finished third by a shoulder’s margin. S. Mason’s Alien Planet sealed 4th position while J. Bateson’s Fridays Daryl came 5th. C. Lister’s Boher Chieftain was the tail ender.
As a whole, the race was packed with thrill and sensation. There came many tides over the distance of 470 metres, but Farloe Warhawk became the ultimate champion of the grand event.
It was the veteran dog’s third OR triumph in a row. Prior to that, he won Heat 2 and Semi-Final of Ladbrokes Laurels.
The son of Ace Hi Rumble out of Wont Be Long has been winning constantly since debuting in January 2012. His profile is adorned with excellent success streaks. He has accomplished numerous feats within just a few months of his career. It is hoped that the
dog will keep his winning momentum up in the next season as well.
