  1. It would be hard to get the rocks out of the frozen ground, so I'd wait till spring thaw if I was you. In the mean time, you can pass the time picking your pimples if you have any.

  2. Wow you must really need a job. I have yet to met anyone who wants to pick rocks. Be ready for long days callesed hands, back hurting and feet killing after a long day of picking rocks. I farm in minnesota and we start pickin rocks right after the ground thraws but we use a rock picker pulled  by a tractor now, threw my back out to many times. Its hard work but if ya wanna do it more power to ya.

  4. Wow, rock picking is HARD work.  I applaud your efforts.

Yes rock picking will start after spring thaw.  Start getting the word out to your local farmers RIGHT NOW.

Put up a sign at your local feed store, or tractor supply store (someplace farmers are likely to go).

Put down that your looking for a job as a rock picker, and if you have transportation to the job or not.

Some farmers will want rock pickers in the fall after harvest too.

I live in Idaho, in the very heart of potato country.  On some of the newer fields (only broke out for the past 30 years, instead of 100 years) they get dang near as many rocks as they do potatoes.  Same with the sugar beats.

Good hired hands are hard to come by right now for the farmers, because if the illegal immigrants (from Mexico) crack down.

Farmers will be very happy to hire someone who shows up every day they say they will, shows up on time, and does a fair days work.  If you work for a good farmer (who treats his people with respect) you may find yourself advancing to jobs of more trust, and responsibility, and more pay rather quickly.

    Best of luck to you.
