My son will be turning one in a few weeks and the party is going to be a farm/barnyard theme. I have a few ideas, but was looking for some more when it comes to decorations, goodie bags items, etc. Any creative ideas?

  1. well, you definitely have to have animals, alive ones would be cooler than fake ones, what Else would be cool is if you guys dressed him up like a farmer with a straw hat.

  2. I love theme parties and my son who is five now really gets into it.  We started it on his 1st birthday too.  It's a great tradition to start.  Anyway I love the whole farm theme idea how cute.  I would ask everyone to come dressed as a farmer put it in the invites.  I would also if it is outside get some hay stacks for seats or snack tables.  Instead of pin the tail on the donkey you could play pin the tail on the piggy.  Just make a pig as best you can...kids don't really care what it looks like.  For food you could have a back yard BBQ.  With corn on the cob and pigs in am blanket and hot dogs and burgers.  You could set out those rubber farm animals on tables for decorations too, and let the kids choose one before they go home instead of goody bags.  You could also boil some eggs the night before and and have an egg hunt.  Tell the kids that Henny the Hen has lost her eggs and they have to help find them.  There is a lot you can do, and I'm sure it will be a blast.  Just have fun with it!

  3. You could go to rhapsody and and search for kid's party music by theme...listen to free samples and buy whole albums. I bought an album for my son's Circus theme party and then burned extra copies for all the kids invited to take home in their goodie bag. The parents loved them as did the kids. I had the music playing during the party and they had a memento to take home. Look for the "Hamster Dance" song. HUGE favorite of the kids! Good Luck!!!

  4. Parties can get expensive in a hurry, but here are a few ideas:

    * You could try animal masks or little straw hats

    * Buy a Little People Barnyard and make it the centerpiece for your table

    * Try a tractor for the cake

    * Buy little barnyard animals for a 'goodie' bag and candy corn (if it's out at this time of year)

For different decorations, try a Party City or somewhere with party items.  They usually have some pretty neat things to choose from or to give you more ideas.

    Hope this helps!
