Question:

Farmall Super C carburettor problem?

I cannot seem to stop this Zenith carb from continuous leaking of fuel. I have installed a new float and new needle valve and it still leaks fuel. The float adjustment does not seem to make any difference. It seems to be coming out the choke flow into the venture air intake, allowing the tractor to run for only a few minutes or seconds. What do I do?

  1. I have been saving 20% on gas now for over a few months. I bought a guide a while back if your interested you can check out http://elfurl.com/rdbet.

  2. I'm not really familiar with the Zenith but I have worked on a few. Most of the carbs I work on are Marvel-Shebler and they are pretty much alike in principle. The problem it seems still lies in your float. When you have the carb apart, turn the float and needle side upside down. The float should be sitting level a 1/4 inch above the carb, if it is not then it needs to be adjusted by bending the tab that hits the needle and not by just bending the float. There are only two places that are subject to wear. The throttle shaft and bushings and the float valve and seat. The only other thing that can cause trouble is dirt in the passages. I would recommend a complete dis-assembly, cleaning, and a rebuild kit. On a carburetor complaint from the field, the only thing a service man can do to the carburetor is to disassemble it. BE SURE that the passages are open and free from dirt, that there is no wear on the throttle shaft and bushings, that float valve and seat are OK, that the float height is OK, and that a good air tight seal exists around the bowl gasket. If such carburetor service does not correct the problem then a complete check of the rest of the engine must be made. GOOD LUCK!!!
