  1. Well first of all, nobody has used slaves in the US for about 150 years now, so that was like four or five generations ago and has very little to do with today's farmers.

Secondly, it wasn't actually farmers as in people who raise animals and crops for food who used slaves. The vast, vast majority of slaves were owned by plantation owners, who were not farmers themselves but merely wealthy people who owned a lot of land, and most of whom grew cotton rather than food crops.

Cotton plantations had a lot of slaves because the invention of the cotton gin made it possible to process huge amounts of cotton and make huge amounts of money off of selling it. You couldn't do that with most other crops at this time because there were not similar inventions for those crops. So cotton was the main crop where the plantation owners made a lot from having lots of slaves who could grow and harvest all that cotton.

But like I said, it was 150 years ago, so it doesn't really have anything to do with modern American farmers.

  2. farmers weren't the only ones who used slaves, they were used by anyone who could afford them to do anything from farming to household chores.  slavery was used in every part of the world at some point, and not just in the US.

as for why US farmers used slaves, it allowed for the mass farming of cotton and tobacco.

there haven't been slaves in the US for almost 150 years, so there really isn't any reason to hate farmers because they had as much to do with it as you or I.

  3. They did in the past-but where do you think your food comes from today? It doesn't just land on the supermarket shelves from outa space-get real my maan-the real slave problem of today is the s*x slaves-do you hate all men for that?
