Farmers Classic 2010; Andy Murray reached the semi final round
The top seeded Scot, Andy Murray has reached the semi final round of the Farmers Classic tennis competition after knocking down Alejandro Falla in the quarter final clash with a final match score of 7-6 (7/3), 6-1 in Los Angeles.
The Brit number one tennis star, Andy Murray is looking all set to grab his very first ATP trophy of the season. With this victory, Andy Murray has also registered his name as the very first Brit tennis professional who made his way in the semi finals of the Farmer’s Classic in Los Angeles.
Murray will meet the fourth seeded Spanish tennis player, Feliciano Lopez in his semi final battle in Los Angeles. Feliciano made his way into the semis after hammering down the American tennis ace, James Blake in a total of three sets with a final match score of 3-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-4.
The twenty three year old young Andy was contesting in his second match after parting ways with his former coach Miles Maclagan just few weeks prior to the start of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, the United States Open championship, which is going to start from the end of next month at Flushing Meadows in the city of New York.
The right handed Andy Murray after his victory in Los Angeles said that he is happy with the manner he is playing at the moment and is in no hurry to take the place of Maclagan. He has decided to appoint the former tennis star from Spain, Alex Corretja as his new coach on the tour.
"I have not hired any permanent coach as yet. Alex however will work with me for around twelve weeks or so and then I would like to team up with someone else”, Murray said.
"I have few names in my mind however I will wait and finally decide by the end of this season that who is going to be my permanent coach”, he added.
In another match, last year’s winner, Sam Querrey also succeeded in his match on Friday after knocking down the German tennis ace, Rainer Schuettler in a total of two sets with a final match score of 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (9/7).
The number one Brit tennis ace, Andy Murray smashed a total of five aces and grabbed seventy six percent of his first serve points in contrast to Falla’s single ace and only sixty six percent serving at Farmers classic tennis tournament in Los Angeles.
Murray who is participating in this championship through a wild card entry is playing in his first competition in Los Angeles. With that, the number one Brit has also registered his name as the only player from Great Britain who has reached the semi final round of the championship.
The fourth ranked Scot professional tennis player Andy Murray has a good success record in the city of California, triumphing on two occasions in San Jose back in 2007 as well as 2006.
He also ended as a runner up at the Indian Wells back in 2009.
On the other hand Sam Querrey, in his match, has succeeded in a total of three championships this year and did serve pretty well in the tie breaker.
The American will meet Janko Tipsarevic, a seeded six tennis ace in his semi final contest. Janko, a Serbian player knocked down Marcos Baghdatis in his previous match in a total of two sets with a final match score of 6-3, 7-5 and confirmed his spot in the semi final match at Farmers Classic in Loss Angeles.
