Farmers Classic 2010: Sam Querrey defeated Rainer Schuettler in the quarterfinal match
The 2009 champ of the Farmer’s Classic, the American tennis player Sam Querrey thrashed out Rainer Schuettler in the quarterfinal clash in Loss Angeles on Friday with a final match score of 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7).
Sam is seeded second for this year’s competition leading towards the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, the United States Open championship. Querrey effectively made use of heavy serves to triumph at the Los Angeles Tennis Center in the city of California.
In spite of the fact that the professional tennis player from the United States of America, Sam Querrey was a little out of practice after the grass court Grand Slam tournament, he still managed to do well in the end with just a total of nine double faults.
“I am not playing at my very best at the moment and particularly my serve, which is a big problem for me”, he said. “I am also lacking that accuracy of that knee bend as well as smooth movement. However, I know the fact that it is improving with every single match that I am playing. The pace along with the motion around the court is really supporting me in succeeding in the end”.
As far as this particular quarterfinal match of the Farmer’s Classic is concerned, the sun light played a major role and affected both of them particularly while serving from one corner of the ground.
''It kept on bugging us right from the start”, Schuettler commented.
The thirty four years old, Schuettler is the oldest tennis ace in the singles draw. He served on two occasions during the set number three, however, then fell down as a result of three unforced errors and lost the match in the end.
''I adopted a bit more attacking approach”, the German tennis ace commented.
Sam Querrey on the other hand has already won a total of three trophies so far in this season on three distinct courts. He will meet the Serbian tennis player, Janko Tipsarevic, a sixth seeded contender in his semi final match in Loss Angeles. Janko made his way into the semi final round after knocking down Marcos Baghdatis in a total of two sets with a final match score of 6-3, 7-5.
'' I am performing pretty well since the start of this week”, Janko said. ''I haven’t lost a set yet”.
In another match, the fourth seeded Spanish tennis contender, Feliciano Lopez hammered down James Blake, a wild card entry in a total of three sets.
''I didn’t serve well and as a result lost this game”, Blake commented. ''I was unable to target my spots successfully, that is an area to be focused now. Moreover, during the set number two of the match, I also couldn’t manage to play big points”.
While playing versus Sam Querrey, Schuettler didn't get a break point in the set number three till the ninth game.
The twenty two years old American tennis ace, Sam Querrey is now the only youngest contender left in the championship after knocking down Schuettler in yesterday’s quarterfinal match of the Farmer’s Club in Loss Angeles.
Sam’s big serves although not so perfect, did the trick for him against Schuettler and that turned the outcome of the quarter final match in his favour in the end.
''I was not at all serving or in fact playing at my very best still I managed to win the clash,” the American professional tennis player, Sam Querrey commented. ''I need to work on my serve as well as accuracy and consistency in order to win while playing against the big names”, he added.
