Farming: How to grow fleshy fatty pigs from seating in an armchair?

I laughed myself long on this ad hit my mailbox 30 yrs ago.

Step 1 Obtain a huge funnel

Step 2 Obtain an equally huge pipe

Step 3 Nail a strong piece of wood to the side of your armchair

Step 4 Get some rope and tie a pig upside down from the piece of wood

Step 5 Get some genetically modified corn and empty bags of it down the funnel through the pipe and into the pig's mouth

Step 6 Your pig is ready to be consumed

Alternatively,

dress a pig up as a little boy and put him in the America of today. That'll do just fine

My guess was that it was an ad for self feeders. You could just fill them up and set in your armchair and watch your pigs get fat. Fatty pigs were valued in time past because the lard they produced was valuable. I would bet that it was further back than 30 years though.

I know in Canada we have been trying for many decades to produce pigs that have lower fat levels and more top length for more high priced cuts.

I can not think how sitting them in an armchair would help.
