Farming System (ICT Project)?

I have decided to pick a farming system for my ict project. however, i do not know how farming works.

I want my system to involve production of stock and including number of animals. What else is involved?

If you were a farmer and you asked me to make a database system for your farm, which keeps you updated in your work. What would you tell me to include?
