  1. you need to rotate your crops so that all the nutrients in the soil are not used up  so that nothing will grow in the ground alfalfa is a crop that replaces nitrogen back into the spoil

  2. Its true about the N factor. However if you go corn afteer corn you have root worm and corn bore problems especally corn bore which can ruin the crop. They eat holes in the stalk and it falls over or just dies. It can be sprayed or treated at an extra cost so just rotate and you have no problems.

  3. nitrogen, insects and diesase are the big factors for rotation of crops in my case i double crop corn in the spring wheat in the fall and soybeans the next summer i can grow three crops on the same land in two years you can grow corn behind corn and do well but there is more expense for nitrogen and insecticides

  4. They are practicing a time proven soil conservation technique of crop rotation. Corn is a crop that takes a lot of Nitrogen  to raise. Rotating with soybeans or alfalfa helps build up the Nitrogen in the soil because they are legumes which means that with the aid of soil bacteria can use the Nitrogen from the air and build up the Nitrogen in the soil.
