Farms/petting zoo's to visit in the northwest?

Question

My 4 year old nephew would like to visit a farm where he can see, feed and pet the animals but I have no idea where to take him. I live in manchester but we drive and travelling isnt an issue, as long as it isnt really far away.

Does anyone know where I could take him?

Please dont list zoo's or amusement parks. He wants to see farm animals.

Heaton Park in Manchester is supposed to be really good.

trotters farm in cumbria - i live near here but ive never been so i dont know what its like. Im sure you could find information on the net about it, they may have a website. Its pretty popular with local school childern anyway
