Farokh Engineer, the former Indian wicketkeeper batsman, has predicted that the hosts, England, will whitewash the ongoing npower Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, since the tourists have not planned the important tour properly.
He has also censured the coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, for their lack of winning strategies.
Talking to the media at Northampton, Engineer said, “At the moment, the situation is gloomy. They have lost belief. If we don’t pull up our socks, England will beat us 4-0. The players have lost confidence in themselves. After winning the toss, which is
a great advantage in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, we did not capitalise. It hurts to see the British press ridicule us. We have nothing to reply. Mr Botham and Mr Boycott are mocking at us.”
The 4-match series started on July 21 at Lord’s, where the mighty English registered a marvellous victory by 196 runs, followed by another tremendous success at Trent Bridge, with a huge margin of 319 runs.
These two consecutive defeats have broken the Indians’ morals down and earned them much disgrace and shame. There are many critics including the former Indian players and media pundits who are outpouring sheer venom against the Men in Blue for their inability
to protect their No 1 position in International Test rankings.
The current series, apart from being a tug of war between the two ace cricketing nations of the world, is a battle for the top slot on ICC's Test rankings table. The Indians are struggling to retain the title while the Poms are h**l-bent to gain it.
Engineer regards the lack of familiarity with the playing conditions of English grounds as the major cause of Team India’s defeats. He has also expressed his anger against the Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) for not appointing him as an advisor
for this series.
He told, “I know every blade of grass in every ground in England. I know every English player’s strong and weak points. I offered my services as an advisor for free. But there was no response from the BCCI.”
The former player has been living in England for nearly 30 years now.
