  1. Dear Shannon,

Persian (Farsi) is an Indo-European language.

more than 140,000,000 people speak this language as their mother language . there are approximately 72 million native speakers of Persian in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan which are countries with Farsi as their official language . About the same number of people in other parts of the world speak Persian.

Farsi has many dialects but good news is everybody can communicate with persians using official dialect (Tehrani). so once you learn how to speak official dialect, there would be no need to try to learn others.

Another good news is there is no major difference between official writing and speaking farsi while in arabic , believe me, there is a huge gap between what they write and what they speak.

Another feature of Farsi language is its simple grammar. I am talking about everyday Farsi, because if I want to consider poetry, there would be another story.

I can not suggest you about choosing between Arabic and Farsi, both languages are widely spoken in the world , but considering learning hardness and variety of dialects, I would go for Farsi.

Wish you luck in study and life.

  2. Arabic hands-down.

Unlike Farsi, Arabic is NOT as geographically-constrained. It is one of the most widely-spoken languages in the world, and you will be able to communicate with a wide variety of people. A famous saying states that by learning another language, you are unlocking a new spirit within you.

Here are a few reasons why you should learn Arabic:

-Arabic is the 5th most commonly spoken native language in the world.

-There is a high demand and low supply of Arabic-speakers in the Western world.

-There are financial incentives for learning Arabic.

-Arabic-speaking nations are a fast growing market for trade.

-Arabic-speaking peoples have made significant contributions to world civilization.

-The Arab-speaking world has a rich cultural heritage.

-Knowing Arabic can promote intercultural understanding.

    Etc...

    Cheers!

  4. try to learn arabic

  5. I would say Farsi. it's sweeter and If your friend was hired you will be hired too. I'm a Farsi speaker and Arabic is tough here it was such a difficult language  for me that i gave up let alone for you as as an English speaker. If you think Farsi is difficult don't worry about it. I'll help you to learn.

  6. arabic is more useful for traveling purposes and a lot more people speak it. but, if for some reason you plan on going to iran or dating persian men, you'd want to take farsi. personally, i'd go with arabic, and that would in turn make farsi easier when and if you decide to learn it in the future.
