Question:

f**t Etiquette- Should you warn someone in the car?

I have been married for 12 years and recently my husband and I have been arguing about if he is right or I am. His farts never make noise, but they smell disgusting. I have asked him to simply say, "Excuse me" or to roll down the window when he farts so I have a heads up. He says he shouldn't have to do this as it is natural and it is his car. All I want is to make be prepared. Who is right? Other ideas? I am being totally serious we argue over this all the time! I told him at home I don't care, just in the close confines of the car.

  1. Well, it sounds like you're being pretty f**t reasonable. I would teach him a lesson by cutting some gross ones in your family car; and let him know that you'd -really- like a warning. Maybe even get some blamed on him with the kids. Good luck!

  2. Nope, no warnings! Not ever!

People like surprises. Even if they turn green, they will laugh about it later.

f**t: Just let it fly and give 'em a sigh!

  3. My husband is the same way when it comes to not saying excuse me! We will be in a store and he will let one out, and I'll ask if he farted and he gets a huge grin on his face..

I have been trying to teach him to say "excuse me" but he appearently already learned manners from his mom and doesn't need me to teach him!

Drives me nuts, and it's gross and rude.

Enough of my rambling... Yes, I think he should open a window and DEFINATLY say excuse me! Good luck with that!

  4. He sounds very rude. Maybe he likes the smell and doesn't want to let it out of the car...but seriously, if he knows it bothers you and doesn't do anything about it, well, that doesn't show any consideration at all for the woman he supposedly loves and cherishes. Pig.

  5. I think he should warn you.

  6. Maybe he should change his diet.

  7. just tell him "thanks" and open the window yourself.

  8. My personal policy is usually to excuse myself at the same volume as the f**t. I figure, if people heard it, they'll hear the excuse me, and if they didn't hear it, I'm not attracting everyone's attention to it.

Smelly farts are another thing. I suppose I'm fortunate that my boyfriend usually farts loudly, so I get a warning in most cases. Sometimes there's no noise and while we don't have a car, if it's in bed, I normally find out whenever I lift the covers, lol! It's rare though, so normally I just ask him and he fesses up and says sorry and we laugh about it.

My father on the other hand, when we are in the car, will often f**t silently and stinkily. He usually opens the window without excusing himself, but I do appreciate him opening the window!

It seems that in this case both you and your husband are right. True, it's natural and while he's not used to saying sorry at home, if it bothers you and you've told him about it, he should show some consideration by respecting your wishes. Sometimes things that are not wrong still bother other people, and when we care about those people, instead of being right, we should seek to respect their feelings.

Unless he really enjoys the smell of his own farts, it could be considered a gesture of love and respect for your feelings if he did this out of respect for your wishes.
