Farveez Maharoof thinks a lot has been lost in Cardiff Test
After four days of the first Test match at Cardiff, the Sri Lankan seamer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944, thinks that both the teams have wasted a lot of time on the field with no reasonable gains. He believes that nothing productive and positive can be drawn out of
this game.
Talking to the media here today, Maharoof said, “A lot of time has been lost in this Test, there are two innings not completed, so you can't take http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 out of this Test because more than 100 overs have been lost.”
Maharoof’s concerns are based on the fact that at the end of four days of the game, not even two innings have been completed yet.
Before entering into the 5th and last day, the English still have 5 wickets in hand while they lead by 91 runs, thanks to Jonathan Trott’s 203 runs. They are just playing their first innings.
Before this, Sri Lanka concluded their first innings with a handsome total of 400 runs. However, they could not deliver well from the bowling side.
The reservations about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864, who have retired from Test cricket.
Maharoof too stresses upon the same point. He told, “As a team we batted really well to get 400 on that wicket in the first couple of days, we just need to be more disciplined and bowl in the right areas.”
He also hailed Trott’s exquisite batting by saying, “To be http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-James-Harris-c44410 Trott batted really well, but we could have bowled much better to him.”
Maharoof was called to play the series from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806, where he was in good form.
The seamer argues that this game has proved to be costly and boring for them and they are not gearing up for the next Test to make impact. He hopes that the remaining two games of the series will give them opportunity to show up their outstanding skills.
However, he warns his teammates not to repeat the same mistakes again and come up with a fresh attack.
