Fast Bowling – A Forte of Pakistan Cricket – Part Two
Continued from the previous part …
The absence of Amir and Asif is extremely depressing for the cricket fans all around the world as they had formed an extra-ordinary new-ball pair. Asif was arguably the best seam bowler of the world, whereas, Amir was quick and had the ability to swing the
ball both ways with the new cherry as well as the old ball.
However, Pakistan cricket must look ahead now and should focus on the current resources in hand. Junaid is an ideal substitute of Amir but the young cricketer from Abbottabad needs to work on his fitness as he has struggled in international cricket because
of various injuries.
There is no doubt about the potential of the youngster and he is surely one for the future but the team management has so far failed to use him appropriately. He is still very young and he is naturally bound to make some mistakes but the captain and the
selectors must allow him to develop his skills by showing faith in him, even when he goes through bad times. Time will tell that it will not be a bad investment.
Wahab is another fast bowler who has performed well in patches but he did not play a lot of cricket in 2011 because of alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal. The left arm fast bowler from Lahore took five wickets in the semi-final of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket
World Cup 2011 at Mohali against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. It remains to be seen that how his career shapes up in the next one year.
There are some budding young fast bowlers coming through the ranks of domestic cricket in the country. Most of the former cricketers in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Talha-c77400 is the most promising young bowler in the country. The young fast bowler
made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but did
not get an opportunity to play before getting injured during practice.
Aaqib predicts a very bright future for the young fast bowler, who plays for the National Bank of Pakistan.
Ex-bowling coach expressed, "Talha has always impressed me, I rate him very highly, he is tall and fast and can swing the ball. He has everything a fast bowler needs, but just needs some time and some encouragement from the team management to establish himself."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahat-Ali-c83301 is another young and upcoming fast bowler who can make his way to international cricket in the coming years.
"Rahat is a good bowler, another who I have high hopes for but he needs to work on his physique especially on his legs. I'm sure though that he will come good, providing he gets the right levels of support,” Aaqib said.
Apart from the above mentioned names, there are many more who are knocking at the doors of international selection. So one can easily say that Pakistan’s future of fast bowling is in safe hands but the cricket officials in the country must utilize this talent
in an appropriate manner.
Fast bowling has been the forte of Pakistan cricket over the years and let us hope that the youngsters can live up to the rich heritage of fast bowling in Pakistan.
