Question:

Fast Food 3rd Shift Law in Indianapolis?

I was just at my local Steak 'n' Shake at 1-2 in the morning [[don't ask]] and I submitted an application and a guy came back asking how old I was because they were looking for people to work the 3rd shift, basically the graveyard shift, but you have to be 18, and I'm turning 17 in 4 days. My question is why must you be 18, and is there anyway to bypass it such as parental approval? Please help me out,. I'd love the job.

Thank you.

  1. Due to the labor laws you are only allowed to work a cretin amount of hours.. during a set time during the day.. see the link for details there are a lot of rules..

  2. If you are under 18 in MI you can't work after 10:30 on weekdays 11:30 on weekends, and you can't work before (I think) 5.  Steak and Shake won't make an exception for it. They would have to apply for a special permit.
