Fast Or Free fervent to finish first in Britannia Stakes
Fast Of Free is fervent to run fast and finish first in the Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Colts & Geldings), a high-profile Class 2 contest that will take place at Ascot racecourse on Thursday, June 21. The action will commence at 4:25 (GMT).
On the good track of 1 mile, the William Haggas-trained novice gelding will have to face 29 competitors including some bigwigs like Bronze Angel, Prince Alzain, Piri Wango, Come On Blue Chip and Forest Row.
Fast Or Free has been enjoying great form and fervency since the very beginning of his career. The three-year-old young and talented horse debuted with 6th position on October 19, 2011.
The brilliant sprinter moved ahead to accomplish a tremendous victory in Betfair Supporting Grassroots Racing Maiden Stakes that was held at Kempton on May 28, 2012. Being a 15-8 favourite runner, he fought against 13 contestants.
This was a big milestone that boosted up the colt’s confidence level to a great extent. The talented son of Notnowcato out of Ewenny stepped ahead to accomplish a fabulous triumph against 14 competitors in his last outing on June 9.
Now, Fast Or Free is packed with winning momentum that will surely help him make a big impact in the Britannia Stakes. He will strive every nerve to complete his maiden hat-trick.
However, Bronze Angel has enough potential to impede Fast Or Free. The Marcus Tregoning-trained bay colt marvellously achieved an epic triumph each on December 28, 2011 and January 14, 2012----he had been a red hot favourite for each of these two races.
The Lady Tennant-owned brilliant runner finished first against a dozen of competitors in his last start on May 19.
In this situation, there is likely to be a tough tug of war between Fast Or Free and Bronze Angel. This will make the event thrilling and amazing.
Prince Alzain too looks to be a strong candidate for victory. The Gerard Butler-trained bay colt bagged a couple of consecutive victories during November-December 2011. After getting a runner-up rank in April 2012, he finished 3rd in his last
venture on June 1.
