Question:

Fast and Easy Fundraising Ideas?

This summer I'm producing a play where all the proceeds of the show are going to Broadway Cares. An organization that is working to fight the AIDS crisis.

Anyway, we had a company helping us with funding. However, I found out that may not end up working out perfectly. As director of the play, I can't let everyone down. But it costs a lot to put on a show.

I need something that can make money fast. Since we really are running low on time. What are some easy and quicky things to do besides car washes?

  2. I'm an officer in our high school booster club and basically solicit Broadway plays and musicals for donations of autographed swag and playbills that we use for fundraising silent auctions and raffles.

My friend, Tony Award Winner John Lloyd Young, gave me the idea to contact casts of musicals/plays after he helped us out with a contribution.  Broadwayworld.com has a listing of all musicals and plays with addresses of their respective theatres.  Most of them are very receptive and prompt in answering you back, and usually turnaround time is about two weeks.

I've also worked with BC/EFA with a fundraiser for Jersey Boys in NYC last October.  Tom Viola and Michael Clarkston are the big cheeses over there and are great people!  When plays and musicals donate to our HS drama boosters, we then donate to BC/EFA or their favorite charity in return for their kindness.

    Good luck!
