Kulikova is a 21-year-old Russian. She played in the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time at Wimbledon in 2009, and reached the third round. Kulikova made it through the Australian Open qualifying in 2010, but was defeated in the first round of the main draw. She won three singles titles on the ITF circuit in 2009 but on the basis of her performance against Kuznetsova, we can expect to be seeing a lot more of her on the WTA Tour this year.
