Fast heavy breathing from my cat who had kittens yesterday?

she has settled down after having her kittens and is eating and drinking fine(water and milk) but she seems to always be breathing very fast and very heavily is there a common reason for this?

  1. she could be still getting contractions which could be more kittens,i have known a double mating can produce 2 litters,my mums cat was having kittens over 2 days,but do be aware she could also have retained kitten which she cant budge so a call to the vet to see what they advise would be wise.


  2. I agree, take her to the vet.  It could be there is one more kitten that is stuck and she is still in labor.  Can you feel a lump in her tummy?  This could prove to be serious if not checked out.

  3. the best thing to do is to take her to the vet.
